Premiership Betting tips- 30th March 2008

March 30th, 2008 by Banter

Tottenham vs. Newcastle:  The battle of the two under performing teams today in the league, Ramos has won 9 out of 20 matches and Keegan has won 1 out of 9.  Newcastle have had a good record over Spurs lately, winning the last 4 consecutive games against Spurs.

Betting tip: Obafemi Martins loves to score against Tottenham, scoring goals in last year’s fixture (2-3 scoreline)  and when Newcastle beat Spurs at home(3-1).  Bet on Martins to score at anytime and to be first goals scorer with Betfair (odds of 4 and 12 with Betfair).

Update:  WINNING BET- Martins may have let us down by not scoring the first goal, but he continued his fantastic record of scoring against Tottenham and most importantly won second half of the bet for us!!

Chelsea vs. Middlesbrough:  Middlesbrough have upset Arsenal already this season, making them drop valuable championship points, but it doesn’t bode well with them not beating Chelsea in over 30 years.

Betting tip: Chelsea have a very good home record, so I’m going to be boring and go for a Chelsea home win (1.3 betting odds on Betfair).

Update:  WINNING BET- Chelsea rode their luck in this game and just like Avram Grant we’ll be thanking the woodwork for doing such a great job throughout the 90 minutes.  Without it, we’d never have won this bet.

Liverpool vs. Everton:   There’s no doubt that Liverpool are the form team today, winning 7 games in a row in all competitions and Everton have not won at Anfield since 1999, the signs point to a Liverpool win today.  But form counts for nothing in derby games likes this, where bragging rights and the Champions League 4th spot is up for grabs.

Betting tip:  I’m tempted to just go outright for a Liverpool win, but I’ll take the draw instead at the odds of 3.45.  Anyone betting on bookings index will be sure to make a killing in this game, stats say that the most red card have been shown in this fixture more than any other Premiership game (16 in total).  Bet on Phil Neville to be shown a card in today’s match at 3.5 betting odds.

Update: LOSING & WINNING BETs- Unfortunately I didn’t listen to myself to back Liverpool for the win, Everton in the end didn’t really produce a performance that was going to worry Liverpool.  On the other hand, the bet to back Phil Neville to get booked was a winner, a special thanks to Phil for getting booked in the opening 20 minutes- a very talented player indeed!!
